A wave of cyberattacks targeting organizations in Japan and financial institutions in South Korea has resulted in widespread data exposure and prompted urgent government responses. In Japan, more than 20 major companies across multiple sectors have reported incidents, potentially exposing tens of millions of customer records, prompting officials to declare a cybersecurity emergency. Meanwhile, South Korean financial institutions have experienced a series of attacks, some reportedly involving AI-assisted techniques. Although the incidents occurred within a similar timeframe, there is currently no evidence linking them to a coordinated campaign.
